In India, over 1.2 billion people continue to lack access to safe, reliable drinking water. 80% of all illnesses result directly from waterborne pathogens; 5 million people, most of them children, die each year from diarrhea by consumption of contaminated drinking water; 50% of hospitalization result from waterborne disease.

The demand for providing safe and potable drinking water has increased from the communities and responding to the need, the Trust had successfully piloted a Safe Drinking Water Project in Kuppam, following a cluster approach which proved to be a great success and a big boon to the people in and around Kuppam as clean and potable drinking water is being provided to them @ Rs.2/- per 20 litres.

We set up a Mother Plant using state of the art technology that serves as a hub to supply purified water to 20 dispensation units across 20 villages/wards. The Mother Plant, with a capacity of providing 10,000 liters of purified water per hour, supplies water to 20 dispensation locations covering about 10,000 households. We have brought in digital technology backed water purification and dispensation systems that give real time status of water quality and consumption. The Kuppam pilot project runs on a complete cashless transaction system, giving high levels of transparency and accountability to the operations. Our real time monitoring also provides information on users, production volume, tank water level status, distribution tracking, and user based water utilization, maintenance scheduling, recharge, and alerts for priority functions.

NTR Memorial Trust has established NTR Sujala plants in CRDA region of Andhra Pradesh i.e. Harishchandrapuram & VenkataPalem.

At the moment, the Trust has been providing safe drinking water to more than 100 villages benefiting more than 50,000 people in Andhra Pradesh.
