5K Thalassemia Walkathon was held @ KBR Park on 20th June 2023 to create awareness about Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Anemia.
To promote awareness about Thalassemia disorder in society, NTR Memorial Trust Thalassemia Care Centre organized an event “Thalassemia 5K Walk”. The event was graced by Chief Guest Shri Ajay Mishra IAS (Retd), Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, Telangana State Chapter; Dr. Anand Naragani, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at CARE Hospitals; Dr. Nirmala Lakkaraju, Indian Red Cross Society, Vice President; Shri K. Rajendra Kumar IPS (Retd), Chief Executive Officer of NTR Memorial Trust; Sh A. Gopi, Chief Operating Officer of NTR Memorial Trust; Dr M.V. Rama Rao, Academic Dean of NTR Educational Institutions; Sh S.Joji Reddy, Principal of NTR Educational Institutions and Sh. Balaji, CIO, Heritage Foods Limited among many other dignitaries.As part of the event, Chief guest Shri Ajay Mishra Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, Telangana State Chapter, delivered a speech on Thalassemia disorder and flagged off Thalassemia 5k Walkathon, which saw enthusiastic participation from students of NTR Educational Institutions as well as parents and children affected by Thalassemia. Corporate employees, Heritage employees and public too joined in this noble cause to raise awareness for Thalassemia disorder through this walkathon.Colourful and informative banners, placards, brochures, leaflets about Thalassemia, exhorted the public to donate blood and become part of this noble cause. Shri K. Rajendra Kumar IPS (Retd.) CEO, NTR Memorial Trust, during his address to the gathering appealed to the people to come forward and donate blood generously to the Thalassemia affected people who require blood transfusion every 21 days through out their lives and also informed the gathering that NTR Trust Thalassemia Care Centre is providing free quality Blood and transfusion facilities to the affected children on regular basis.He complimented Sh A. Gopi, COO and the entire staff of NTR Memorial Trust for leaving no stone unturned to make the event a grand success. He also conveyed his appreciation to the entire faculty, staff and students of NTR Educational Institutions, Heritage Food Limited employees headed by Sh A Balaji CIO and Kiran, Sponsors, Volunteers and all the participants from various walk of life for participating in the event enthusiastically.
